“Where Champions Are Made!” The excitement is building at P.P. Savani University as the campus gears up for the first-ever Champions Cup Football Tournament, set to take place from 22nd to 30th September 2025 at the university’s football turf. Organised by the Sports and Cultural Committee under the leadership of all African students at PPSU, the tournament is more than just a competition - it is a celebration of unity, talent, and shared passion for football. A Tournament for Unity and Fun The Champions Cup has been designed as a free tournament where the focus goes beyond winning trophies. It is about creating opportunities for students to: 1. Enjoy themselves through sport 2. Instill unity in their hearts 3. Build bonds of friendship and brotherhood 4. Showcase skills and talent on the pitch To ensure fairness and inclusivity, teams were formed through paper draws, with no coaches influencing the selection of players. This guarantees a level playing field where every participant can contribute and shine. The Structure A total of 8 teams have been formed, each complete with a goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. The teams have been split into two groups, Group A and Group B, where they will battle it out in the group stages. Only the top two teams from each group will secure a coveted place in the semi-finals. The Teams Group A Blaze Hawks (Coach Jerry) Hilal (Coach Henry Prudensio) Eagles (Coach Musa) Falcons (Coach Kelvin) Group B Dark Horses (Coach Berven) Supa Strikers (Coach Halahala) Empire Academy (Coach Yazeed) Golden Star (Coach Varney) Anticipation and Spirit The Champions Cup promises to be a thrilling and memorable tournament, not just for the players but for the entire PPSU community. With its spirit of fun, fairness, and family, the event aims to strengthen bonds among students and highlight the diversity and energy that thrives on campus. The organisers have called on everyone to come out, cheer, and support the teams, because at the heart of this tournament lies one powerful message: “It’s not about who knows who, it’s about becoming one united family at PPSU.”
