Happy Independence Day to all Emaswati in PPSU, as well as those in Africa’s New Promise — the gem that lies between South Africa and Mozambique — and to those in the diaspora.
As we celebrate 57 years of attaining our sovereign status from Great Britain, let us be proud of the land that the Almighty has given us. From the highest peak of Emlembe to the majestic Lubombo mountains, with the fertile Lowveld in between, our nation is richly blessed. We boast the abundance of the Big Five at Hlane Royal National Park, the breathtaking Sibebe Rock, the ever-flowing Lusutfu River, and the majestic Maguga Dam.
Let us not forget our rich cultural heritage, which has survived and surpassed generations — from the Incwala (First Fruits) ceremony to the Umhlanga (Reed Dance) ceremony. Alongside these timeless traditions, our modern pop culture has shaped Eswatini on the global stage with events like MTN Bushfire, Swazi Rally, Makoti Festival, the International Trade Fair, Instacash School Tournament, Luju Festival, Sibebe Survivor Challenge, and many more.
We also celebrate our vibrant urban culture. From the corporate and administrative capital Mbabane, to the royal and legislative capital Lobamba, to the agricultural hub of Malkerns, the industrial centre of Matsapha, and the bustling commercial city of Manzini — where people from all walks of life meet to create a prosperous future. Let us also recognize the ever-growing new urban centres such as Siphofaneni, Nhlangano, Piggs Peak, Buhleni, Huthi, Ezulwini, and many more.
Finally, let us honor the monarchs and leaders who ensured our right to exist was never shaken — from Dlamini I to Somhlolo, from Mswati II to Queen Labotsibeni, from Sobhuza II to now His Majesty King Mswati III. We also remember those who sacrificed their peace and livelihoods so that our nation may remain prosperous and peaceful for all who call her home.
Hence, for the 57th time in our history, on this special day we proudly say:
Halala Eswatini! 🇸🇿
